2019 ASHEcon Diversity Scholarship

In an effort to encourage participation by underrepresented communities, the American Society of Health Economics (ASHEcon) jointly with the National Institute of Aging (NIA) funded Center on the Demography and Economics of Health and Aging at Stanford University are offering up to twenty scholarships aimed at underrepresented minorities and/or individuals whose background or life circumstances indicate they have overcome substantial obstacles (e.g., disabled individuals, sexual and gender minorities, etc.)  conducting research in health economics. Early Career Professionals Mentoring Session*
Time: 2:00-4:00pm
Room: Lincoln 3-4 (Exhibit Hall C)

ASHEcon welcomes early career professionals UP TO five years out of having RECEIVED their PhD to interact with an accomplished panel of professionals at its speed mentoring session at the 8th Annual ASHEcon Conference.

Join us for a fun, informal afternoon of making connections with some of the leading health economists in the field. Whether you are about to enter the job market, seeking advice about professional growth, or simply hoping to learn about possible career paths, this event is an excellent opportunity to expand both your knowledge base and your network of contacts.

To participate, you must be an ASHEcon member five years out of having received their PhD.
During this session, senior economists will interact with early career professionals  through semi-structured “speed-mentoring” meetings to answer questions on topics such as publishing, teaching, grant writing, networking, job search, career paths, and the tenure process.

PhD Student Mentoring Session*
Time: 2:00-4:00pm
Room: Lincoln 5-6 (Exhibit Hall C)

ASHEcon welcomes PhD students to interact with an accomplished panel of professionals at its speed mentoring session at the 8th Annual ASHEcon Conference. This event will take place on Sunday, June 23, from 2:00-4pm in Exhibit Hall C at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.

Join us for a fun, informal afternoon of making connections with some of the leading health economists in the field. Whether you are about to enter the job market, seeking advice about professional growth, or simply hoping to learn about possible career paths, this event is an excellent opportunity to expand both your knowledge base and your network of contacts.

To participate, you must be an ASHEcon student member or a student at an ASHEcon member university in the last 2 years or last year of their PhD program. During this session, senior economists will interact with PhD students through semi-structured “speed-mentoring” meetings to answer questions on topics such as publishing, teaching, grant writing, networking, job search, career paths, and the tenure process. 

Group Registration

Group registration is available to groups that want to register 3 or more people at once. If you want to register groups of more than 3 people at once, please contact Leslie Ofori at info@ashecon.org

  • The group contact name must appear on each registration.
  • Group’s contact will not be registered as conference attendees for the conference. Group’s contact must register, if interested in attending the conference.
  • Before you register, you must know the membership status of the persons that you are registering.

Registration Information

  • All fees are collected and charged in USD unless noted otherwise.
  • Online registration is preferred for all participants. If you are paying by check, you still need to complete the online registration process and print out your invoice and send it along with your check no later than 2 weeks after registering.
  • To receive the member registration rate, you’ll need to use the email address associated with your membership account.
  • By registering for this conference, you are giving your consent for ASHEcon to use your image in photographs in promotional materials.
  • Sharing of conference name badges is prohibited.
  • For security purposes all individuals must be registered and wear their name badge at all times.
  • Your registration will be confirmed by email. Confirmation will include a link to your registration to view payment information and will serve as your receipt.

Payment Policy

  • ASHEcon’s Tax ID: 26 – 4526340
  • Payment may be made by check or credit card.
  • All fees are collected and charged in USD unless noted otherwise.
  • Registrations can be cancelled and refunded until May 23rd, less a $100 administration fee. After May 23rd, no refunds will be given for cancelled registrations. 
  • Persons who register for the conference but cannot attend may send a substitute. If the person replacing the attendee is not an ASHEcon member, they’ll have to pay the difference.
  • If paying by check, please make checks payable to “ASHEcon” and send to ASHEcon, 1100 Vermont Ave. NW, Ste. 650, Washington, DC 20005.
  • If you are paying by check, you still need to complete the online registration process and print out your invoice and send it along with your check no later than 2 weeks after registering.

Conference Registration Includes:

  • Access to all plenaries, scientific sessions, receptions, and the exhibit hall.
  • Coffee and tea will be available at specific times each day.
  • A light breakfast will be provided Monday – Wednesday.
  • Lunch will be provided on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Receptions on Sunday and Tuesday

Visa Requests

Upon request, ASHEcon will issue a Participation Confirmation Letter to attendees who must apply for visas or other documentation to enter the United States. All documentation for entry into the United States is the responsibility of the attendee.
