Tenured or Tenure-track Professor in Public Policy and Economics

The Sanford School of Public Policy is undertaking a major hiring initiative in political science, economics, and public policy. Within this initiative, the school invites applications for two economist positions at the advanced assistant professor (i.e. at least 2 years post-PhD), associate professor, or full professor level. We seek economists in the broad area of domestic policy. Candidates for appointment at the associate or full professor level should have a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for the rank, and all applicants should demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and advising.

We are especially interested in economists trained in Health Economics, Education Economics, Labor Economics, Stratification Economics, Public Economics, and/or Urban Economics, whose research examines pressing issues of domestic policy including, especially, health policy, but also wealth and/or income inequality, crime and punishment, education policy, employment discrimination, ethnic and racial disparities in general, housing policy, immigration policy, and/or technology policy. In addition, we value applications from faculty with a record of entrepreneurial research projects, a strong interest in policy engagement, and experience with innovative, hybrid classroom approaches. Faculty may teach in any of our core existing programs and be part of building new professional offerings.

The Sanford School includes a full-time faculty of almost 70 and offers an undergraduate major, three Masters’ degree programs, and a Ph.D, program. More information on the Sanford School can be found at www.sanford.duke.edu. The Sanford School values quality teaching in core courses and in the School’s professional programs.
