Temple University College of Public Health, a multidisciplinary academic center devoted to an innovative educational and research environment that brings a transdisciplinary perspective of health, wellness and social welfare, is seeking experienced health policy and services researchers to join the newly established Temple University Department of Health Services Administration and Policy (HSAP).
We seek senior faculty committed to collaborative, interdisciplinary research who have a substantial record of scholarship and research funding in health services research with backgrounds in health economics, organization/management theory, health policy or health finance. Research should involve a mix of retrospective analyses and prospective studies focused primarily on critical national health challenges, such as cancer and related diseases/behaviors; mental health, substance abuse/addiction, and violence; and, aging and chronic disease.
Established in 2015, the growing Department is comprised of academic programs in Health Policy and Management and includes a Division of Health Information Management. There are 13 full-time faculty members engaged in research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities with more than 200 students. Academic programs include a BS in Health Information Management, an MPH in Health Policy and Management, an MS and Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics, and a PhD in Health Policy. All academic programs are fully accredited. A graduate program in health services administration is planned. The research and policy emphases of faculty are in the areas of patient experience/quality of care, population health, and healthcare costs and financing (i.e., the Triple Aim); access to care and social determinants of health; healthcare management and leadership; and impacts of health information technologies. Of particular interest is the impact of health financing and health services organization, integrated delivery and innovation on achievement of the Triple Aim.
Applicants must hold a doctorate in a related discipline and a research record appropriate to warrant a tenured appointment or to demonstrate the capacity to earn tenure in a research intensive department at the rank of associate or full professor. Cluster faculty hiring of research teams comprised of senior and junior faculty is encouraged.
The College of Public Health, a constellation of 9 academic units of public health, health profession and social work disciplines, enrolls nearly 5,000 students in 51 academic programs. The College has seen remarkable growth and organizational expansion in configuration of programs, research profile, increase in rankings, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The College’s research focuses on medical interventions, social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, and basic science and is sponsored by NIH, NSF, and other major funders. Collaborations include Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI comprehensive cancer center, the Center for Obesity Research and Education, Temple’s University Health System, other health systems, community health centers, and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.
