The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting a Basic, Clinical or Health Services Researcher with a track record of successful research activities, as demonstrated by peer-review publications and funding.

Candidates should hold a medical degree (MD/DO), doctorate degree (PhD), or both. Physician candidates should be board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding and original research, a track record of funding, and a collaborative spirit. Successful candidates must be willing to contribute to the department’s strategic plan in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion. Academic rank and series will be commensurate with qualifications.

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides comprehensive emergency services to a large local and referral population at multiple academic hospitals across the San Francisco Bay Area, including UCSF Hellen Diller Medical Center, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francsico and Oakland. The Department of Emergency Medicine directs a fully accredited 4-year Emergency Medicine residency program, multiple ACGME and non-ACGME fellowship programs, and nearly 20 courses in the School of Medicine.
Research is a major departmental priority, with about 70 ongoing studies and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications every year across a wide range of research domains. The department participates in multiple national clinical research networks and has strong research collaborations with other UCSF departments and institutes. There are opportunities for leadership and growth within the Department and UCSF School of Medicine.
