The Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar. This is a full-time, two-year position located in Lexington, Kentucky. This postdoc would join a group of health services researchers in the department and do work primarily with Dr. Jayani Jayawardhana. Primary job responsibilities will include working with large secondary databases to conduct econometric analyses and prepare policy-relevant publications in the research areas of the mentor: Health Policy and Substance Use Research.
The Department of Health Management and Policy is within the College of Public Health and comprises of faculty members with nationally and internationally recognized expertise in health care administration, public health management, health services research, and health policy. Our mission is to conduct innovative health services and systems research, educate the next generation of health-sector leaders, practitioners, and researchers, and translate knowledge to practitioners, policymakers, and society to improve health systems and population health.
A successful candidate will hold a PhD, DrPH or similar, in health services research, health policy, health economics, or a closely related discipline. Knowledge of the US healthcare system, ability to use SAS, STATA and/or R to conduct statistical analyses of large, secondary databases. Since the goal of this position will be to develop numerous scientific papers and presentations, excellent written and oral communication skills are required. We are especially interested in faculty who identify as an underrepresented minority and/or those with a teaching/research focus on health equity.
Physical Requirements include sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Shift requirements include working Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm with additional hours as needed. Occasional travel is optional.
