Department of Population Health Sciences
Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University
New York City, New York
The Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow who will conduct research evaluating telemedicine interventions in New York City and nationally. The ideal candidate will be a quantitative researcher focused on health systems science and healthcare delivery. The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in health services research, healthcare policy, or healthcare informatics.
The postdoctoral researcher will work under the supervision of the Department Chair, Rainu Kaushal, MD, MPH, who currently focuses on predictive modeling and new models of healthcare delivery, and Division Chief Lawrence Casalino, MD, PhD, who focuses on payment and organization of healthcare delivery. In addition, there are multiple outstanding faculty, postdoctoral and research staff collaborators in the department and across the institution. The department has significant data resources including the INSIGHT Clinical Data Research Network and data from Medicare and major national insurers. We host a state of the art computing environment, the Data Core, which serves as a secure platform for data analysis and includes extensive state and national data available for reuse.
Led by Dr. Kaushal, the department has an interdisciplinary research team focused on evaluating telemedicine interventions. The postdoctoral researcher will be working on projects evaluating the comparative effectiveness of telemedicine in primary care, the effectiveness and implementation of telehealth-enabled community paramedics in post-discharge, and the impact of telemedicine initiatives in the NewYork Presbyterian healthcare system on preventable healthcare utilization, patient loyalty, health outcomes, and costs. These projects are funded by multi-year grants from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and by New York Presbyterian Hospital.
