MHBS: Open Rank Tenure Track or Tenure Eligible Professor – Department of Health Management and Policy

The Department of Health Management and Policy (HMP) within the Miami Herbert Business School (MHBS) at the University of Miami seeks applicants for a Tenure Track or Tenure Eligible Professor position with a focus in the general area of health care management and policy, or have applied a functional area (e.g., Finance, Economics, Quality Improvement, Information Technology, etc.) to the health care industry. The successful applicant will start during the Spring or Summer of 2025. 

Eligible candidates must have completed a Ph.D. or expect to complete a Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Health Policy, Economics, Finance, or a related field or related areas prior to beginning employment. Applicants must have a scholarly record consistent with rank.  Such a record, depending on rank, would include publications in the top refereed journals of the field; outstanding pedagogical skills; and a willingness to actively engage within our department, school, and broader communities.  Demonstrated teaching excellence, particularly in the core areas of health economics, health care management and policy, and population health is especially desired.

Responsibilities also include: Instruction of 3-4 courses (9-12 credits) per academic year, lecturing, leading class discussions and conducting other teaching activities during scheduled classes; creating, administering and grading using appropriate assessment methods; holding office hours and providing additional support for students outside the class periods; calculating and submitting grades for all students; collaborating with the chair and faculty of the HMP Department to create coursework or support the department’s mission; following established expectations and protocols for the department and to stay current in the field.

ABOUT THE HEALTH MANAGEMENT AND POLICY DEPARTMENT:

In addition to teaching, HMP faculty are actively engaged in research, and in recent years, members of the Department have published their research in a wide variety of top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, Human Relations, Health Services Research, Medical Care, Social Science and Medicine, Health Economics, Journal of Human Resources, and many others. Department members are active on the editorial boards of numerous journals and have served as Editors and Associate Editors of various academic journals. The Department maintains an active seminar series and hosts the annual Business of Health Care Conference. The Department also has undergraduate, Master of Health Administration (MHA), Health Executive Master of Business Administration (HEMBA), and MD/MBA programs.
