Job Summary:
Provides high-level professional, clinical and/or technical leadership in the design, implementation, operations and dissemination of findings from health services and outcomes research, demonstration and evaluation projects. Professor’s assume a leadership role in program level development within Geisinger and in the design, development, implementation and reporting of health services and outcomes research.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Reports directly to Chair, Department of Epidemiology and Health Services Research.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Research (75%-90%): Responsible for research design and protocol development under the direction of the Department Chair and pursuing independent funding for research projects. Analyzes research findings and disseminates in journals and presents at scientific meetings. Represents research department to health care and scientific communities.
Consulting/Advising: (10%-25%): Provides healthcare research and outcomes analyses in service to other departments in GHS. Serves on Research committees, as well as participates in leading seminars and journal clubs. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

Education and Experience and/or Experience:
Doctoral degree or a terminal degree requiring a research-based thesis in health services and outcomes research or closely-related field required. Must be knowledgeable of statistical methodologies, outcomes research, and public health policy. Survey research experience preferred.
9 years’ experience in achieving successful funding.
