We focus on incentives, unintended consequences, and the impact of policies and organizational processes on socioeconomic and racial/ethnic disparities. Our current areas of investigation are broad and include telehealth, private equity, physician management companies, horizontal and vertical consolidation of provider organizations, physician burnout and professionalism, physician turnover, the use of artificial intelligence in medical care, MIPS, alternative payment models, biosimilars, advance care planning, mental health and substance use disorder care, socioeconomic determinants of health, Medicaid, and the healthcare safety net.
The Division offers an M.S. in Health Policy and Economics and participates in the executive MBA/MS program offered jointly by our Department and the Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management. The Department is launching a Ph.D. program in Population Health Sciences.
