Associate or Full Professor Faculty Position – Evaluating Telehealth Initiatives

The Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medical College invites applications for an associate or full professor. Candidates should have a strong interest in evaluating telehealth initiatives at Weill Cornell, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and nationally. The successful candidate will have (1) a Ph.D., or an M.D. plus additional graduate training, (2) strong communication skills, (3) rigorous quantitative skills, (4) experience working with large databases, ideally including Medicare and/or commercial claims databases, and (5) interest in mentoring junior faculty.
The new faculty member will work with the Department Chair, Rainu Kaushal, MD, MPH, who leads the two large Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) initiatives on which much of our current telehealth research is based, and with Jyoti Pathak, Chief of the Division of Health Informatics, and Lawrence Casalino, MD, PhD, Chief of the Division of Health Policy and Economics, In addition, there are multiple outstanding collaborators within the department and across the institution, including several junior faculty who are working on telehealth. The department has significant data resources including the INSIGHT Clinical Data Research Network and data from Medicare, Medicaid, and major national insurers. We host a state-of-the-art computing environment, the Data Core, which serves as a secure platform for data analysis and includes extensive state and national data available for reuse.
Our current telehealth projects include evaluating the comparative effectiveness of telemedicine in primary care, the effectiveness and implementation of telehealth-enabled community paramedics in post-discharge, and the impact of telemedicine initiatives in the New York Presbyterian healthcare system on preventable healthcare utilization, patient loyalty, health outcomes, and costs. There will also be opportunities for teaching in the M.S., Ph.D., and executive MBA programs offered by the Department. The faculty member will have a home in one of the divisions of the Department of Population Health Sciences, based on mutual interests.
